Man as someone who loves Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem Warriors was nowhere close to Hyrule Warriors. I blame bad communication between IS and Koei.
I don’t entirely agree, I think they’re both pretty good games and I have enjoyed both immensely. They both have their strengths and weaknesses…
I think FE Warriors biggest downfall–and one of Hyrule Warriors’ greatest strengths–was character and move set variation. I think this was the biggest turn off for a lot of Fire Emblem fans, restricting the character roster to just the main characters from Awakening and Fates (plus a few Shadow Dragon people). While Hyrule Warriors initially did this too (it only had Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess), they pulled some interesting picks from these games, like Agitha, and gave everyone their own unique moveset. I really didn’t like how there were so many clone characters in FE Warriors, especially with the DLC.
That being said, I think the game looks pretty polished and I really love the game play. For me, Hyrule Warriors eventually felt repetitive and I stopped playing because of that, but I’ve been playing FE Warriors since October! I think the voice acting (for the most part) is pretty good, the pair up/support conversations are a fun mechanic–the game is a lot of fun for me.
For me, it’s hard to say which one is better in my opinion because it’s been so long since I’ve actually played Hyrule Warriors. I think that if the roster was more varied for FE Warriors, I would be able to say that it was my favorite out of the two….but they’re both pretty good in my opinion 😀
